Cyclone 10 LP's Extended Industrial parts

[Question]

Customer have questions about Cyclone 10 LP's Extended Industrial (Tj = -40degC to 125degC) in the Product Catalog at the following URL.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/content-details/730595/altera-product-catalog.html

  1. What is part number of Extended Industrial of "10 CL010YM164I7 G" as part number of Normal Industrial?
  2. What should the customer do if they want to check the power consumption by EPE(Early Power Estimator)?
  3. How can the customer design with Extended Industrial part if they want to compile with Quartus?

Best Regards

    Hello MAC_Yossi,

    1. Refers to this KDB, it mentions that there is no difference between Industrial and Extended Industrial in device OPN. Both will be used "I" as the letter to indicate the Operating Temperature.

    2. If the device OPN is listed as Extended Industrial grade, then you may choose the same OPN in EPE.

    3. After selecting the device, if the device is supported for Extended Industrial grade, you may check it on Assignments - > Settings -> Temperature. This is the example for 21.1 Standard version:

    Hi AqidAyman_Altera,

    1. Refers to this KDB, it mentions that there is no difference between Industrial and Extended Industrial

in device OPN. Both will be used "I" as the letter to indicate the Operating Temperature.

I could Not completely understand that there is no difference between Industrial and Extended Industrial in device OPN. Please let us know your answer to questions below.

Q1-1. If so, we have to order Industrial Grade product in device OPN and develop the design after setting Extended Industrial Grade (-40degC to +125degC) on Quartus Standard Edition. Is it correct?

Q1-2. Is there no price difference between Industrial and Extended Industrial in device OPN?

Q1-3. The following URL on the KDB was not shown correctly, would you provide us what written in?

     Extended Temperature Device Support:

    https://www.altera.com/products/common/temperature?_gl=1*1ykyxdc*_gcl_au*MTcwNTk1Mjk2OC4xNzY5NjAxMzMz*_ga*Nzc0OTM1MzU5LjE3NTQxMTY0OTU.*_ga_MCV0QK4FCW*czE3NzIxODY0ODkkbzMkZzEkdDE3NzIxODY4NTUkajYwJGwwJGgxMDg4NjM5MzMy

    2. If the device OPN is listed as Extended Industrial grade, then you may choose the same OPN in EPE.

I keep trying to download the Cyclone 10 LP EPE, but I get an error below. Can you download it? If yes, please share it.

    3. After selecting the device, if the device is supported for Extended Industrial grade, you may check it on Assignments - > Settings -> Temperature. This is the example for 21.1 Standard version:

I checked with the latest Quartus Standard Edition v25.1, but I could not set it to +125degC.

According to my colleague, if there is no .ini file in the past, it will not be enable.

Would you please check whether special .ini file is needed?

      Hi MAC_Yossi,

Yes, since there is no difference in the OPN for Industrial and Extended Industrial, I believe your understanding is correct.

Regarding the broken link inside the KDB has been reported internally. I will inform you once there is any updates on this.

For the Cyclone 10 LP EPE download error, I also observed the same problem. This problem has been acknowledged internally. I will update you back once get any updates.

      Regards,
      Aid

      Hi Frank

have no problems to set 125 °C maximum temperature for 10CL010YM164I7G,  in Quartus Lite oder Std version, e.g. 19.1, 24.1 25.1

From your comment, I understand that 125 °C maximum temperature for 10CL010YM164I7G can be set in Quartus Lite/Std version, e.g. 19.1, 24.1 25.1.

But, in my environment it is impossible setting 125 °C maximum temperature because there is no 125 °C on window as shown in attached capture.

Would you tell me how to set 125 °C?

Also, answer the rest of the questions.

      Regards,

      MAC_Yossi

    Hi AqidAyman_Altera and Frank,

I tried again with Standard Edition v25.1 and was able to set 125 C as shown below.

Thank you for pointing it out.

    Captured data:

From this result above, is the following my understanding correct?

    ======

We can order Industrial Grade product in device OPN and develop the design after setting as same as Extended Industrial Grade (-40degC to +125degC) on Quartus Standard Edition.

    ======

I wait for your answer to following question.

    2. If the device OPN is listed as Extended Industrial grade, then you may choose the same OPN in EPE.

I keep trying to download the Cyclone 10 LP EPE, but I get an error below. Can you download it? If yes, please share it.

    Hi Aqid,

How should we calculate the Cyclone 10 LP power consumption at 125degC(= as Extended Industrial product) on Early Power Estimators (EPE)?

Or, do we must use PowerPlay Power Analyzer in stead the power consumption calculation at 125degC with EPE?

    Best Regards,

      Hi MAC_Yossi

As per what I understand, you can use Automotive grade in the EPE as a replacement for Extended Industrial grade since the operating temperature range of Automotive grade and Extended Industrial grade is the same (Tj = -40C to 125C).

      Regards,
      Aqid
