Updated .brd file for Stratix 10 GX dev kit
Referencing this post:
EK-10M08E144 PCB .brd file corrupted | Altera Community - 302242
The .brd file that comes in the documentation at:
https://www.altera.com/products/devkit/po-3028/stratix-10-gx-signal-integrity-development-kit-h-tile
...was done in Allegro, prior to version 16.6. The only available Allegro viewer gives an error because it was done prior to version 16.6, and you need the DB Doctor utility to update the file.
The only way to get the DB Doctor utility is to install Allegro. If I had Allegro...I would not be installing the Allegro viewer.

As mentioned in the post above (well over a year ago), it would make sense for you to update your files so customers can view the board of their $10K+ development board. How do we make that happen? Thanks!

I don't know who on the planet in 2026 just happens to have a 2017 version of Allegro laying around for a new install. I even went so far as to jump through the hoops to get the demo version of Allegro, and it only lets you go back to 2023 when you download. That's not really a viable solution. altera updtaing the documentation is the only real solution I see. I don't see anyone from altera chiming in.

Thank you for the response. I look forward to any resolution. Being able to view the PCB was a big part of getting the board, only to find out the files cannot be viewed. Not awesome for customers.

Hello Joe,
I apologize for taking some time on this.
One possible solution we can suggest is to open the file using 17.4vr and save, then you can open in latest Allegro versions.
You can do this if you have 17.4vr.

Great question, and I completely understand the frustration.
I have initiated an internal discussion regarding this issue. I will update you back once I received any feedback.
