New MemberLicense for Questa Starter Edition will not work
I tried looking up other posts for this issue, but none of the answers people gave helped. This is the error that shows up after I downloaded the license and set SALT_LICENSE_SERVER to point to it.
I tried creating and pointing LM_LICENSE_FILE and MGLS_LICENSE_FILE too. It didn't work either. The address is correct too. I don't know what is going on
I finally got it to work. I pointed SALT_LICENSE_SERVER to the license file in both user variables and system variables, and that fixed the problem.

Hi randomuser900,
May I know the Modelsim/ QuestaSim edition and version that you are currently using? And also, Quartus Edition and version installed in your machine?
Here are several suggestions you may try on:
1. Upgrade the Siemens daemon to saltd v11.19.5 if you're on version 2024.1. You may refer to the following KDB article: https://community.altera.com/kb/knowledge-base/error--flexlm-version-of-vendor-daemon-is-too-old/342390
2. Verify the MGLS_LICENSE_FILE environment variable. Since MGLS_LICENSE_FILE takes precedence, please ensure it points to the correct license path or port@hostname. It is generally recommended to define only one license source unless you are using multiple Siemens EDA products. 3. Confirm the license was generated for the correct NIC ID / host — regenerate at SSLC if the machine changed. I am using Quartus Lite 25.1 and Questa Starter 25.1
I tried setting MGLS_LICENSE_FILE to point to the Questa license file, and it just gave the following error:
Yes, the license is correct. I tried regenerating it again, but it still doesn't work
