Agilex-9 DSP Builder

Hello,

I am trying to use DSP builder to generate a demo FFT, but the Device block doesn't let me select Agilex-9. Is that supposed to be an option or should I use an Agilex-7 instead? I am using the AGRW014.

Thanks

  • The Agilex 9 Direct RF-Series is controlled access and requires additional licenses in the Quartus tools. Please reached out to the Altera FAE assigned to your project and they will assist with your licensing issue.

    Hello,

Thank you for the info. I was just wondering if the Agilex-9 is intended to show up in DSP builder. I have the licensing working in Quartus, but wasn't sure if that was supposed to translate over to DSP builder or if Agilex-9 is supported in DSP builder at all.

    Thanks,

    Andres

Yes, Agilex 9 devices are supported in DSP Builder, and every other Altera Quartus tools, but it requires that you have the device licensing correctly install to enable these devices. Based on your response, it is likely that your quartus.ini file with the license information is in the working directory when you are running Quartus, but it is not the working directly when you are using DSP Builder.

You should be able to resolve this issue, but copying the quartus.ini file to the working directory that you are using for demo_fft Matlab/DSP Builder project or alternatively include the licensing file in the $QUARTUS_ROOTDIR/quartus.ini file so that it is found by all Quartus tools. This may not be possible if you have your EDA tools are managed by another team.

    Hi Andres,

    Apologies for the delay.

Based on my review of the current DSP Builder Handbook, it appears that Agilex 9 is not yet supported in DSP Builder as of Quartus Pro 25.1. I also tested this myself and was able to replicate your observation — Agilex 9 does not appear in the device list.

I’ve reached out to the Factory team for further clarification and am currently awaiting their response. I’ll keep you updated on the progress and aim to provide an update by mid next week, or sooner if I receive any concrete information.

Please let me know if you have any concerns or further questions. Thank you!

    Hi Andres,

Just wanted to check a few details with you to ensure we're aligned (in case I may have missed anything):

    1. Which specific Quartus version are you currently using?
    2. Can you confirm that you're able to select the Agilex 9 device from the Quartus device list?
    3. Would you mind sharing the contact details of your DFAE who assisted with enabling Agilex 9 in Quartus? I’d like to follow up with them for further clarification.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns or additional information. Thank you!

    Hi Andres,

Just to share—I've tested the method of placing the quartus.ini file directly in the same project folder where I launch Quartus and DSP Builder. With this setup, I was able to see the Agilex 9 device available in the selection list. This aligns with one of the approaches Edward recommended earlier.

You might want to give this method a try and see if it works on your end as well.

Let me know if you have any concerns or need further assistance. Thank you!

    Hello CheePin and Edward,

putting the Quartus.ini file in $QUARTUS_ROOTDIR worked and I am now able to see the Agilex-9 in DSP builder. thank you both so much for the help with this issue!
