Reconfigure Agilex-7 with PCI IP causes system reboot

Hi

We have a PCI with Alteras Agilex-7 eval board connected to a Intel Sierra Forest server running Ubunto 24,  when reconfigure our Agilex-7 eval board the PC reboots often which causes alot of frustation since we are not alone on the PC server.

  1. what is the proper procedure when needing to configure with a PCI IP, how to issue a re-enumeration?
  2. What is the procedure when needing to reconfigure a design that has a PCI IP

Thanks

      Hi Wincent

I still cant find anything that explains what the procedure is when we have a new configuration file that we like to configure the Agilex with without causing a crash or reboot. The document says reboot!!

        Hi Shanti,

What do you means new configuration ? Is it new .sof file to configure the pcie ?
All PCIe need to go through reboot for re-enumeration process, so reboot is mandatory for the PCIe to link up. (This is based on PCI-SIG specification standard)

The board is mounted in a Intel server and runs Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS (GNU/Linux 6.6.65-060665-generic

    Hi,

May I know which eval board that you are using ?
Because for Agilex 7 , we do have F-series and I-series.

BUT if procedure to configure the PCIe, you may refer to the guide under
    https://community.altera.com/discussions/ip-and-transceiver/how-to-run-pcie-gen-5-design-example-using-altera-fpga-device/125814

there is a document .pdf who mentioned the full setup that connected to the host.
That can be a good kickstart for you.
