Stratix III FPGA Development Kit
Dear Support,
I have already tried renaming the device installation file, but the Quartus 13.1 device installer does not accept any name other than "stratixiv-13.1.0.162.qdz". When I use this default name, a window appears with the checkboxes ticked for the Stratix III family (indicating it is already installed). I cannot uncheck these boxes to uninstall only this specific family. I was also careful to place the .qdz file inside a folder with a simple name—without spaces or special characters—as I am aware of this classic Quartus 13.1 bug. Even so, nothing seems to solve the problem, and I am truly at a loss as to what might be going wrong. I am happy to make my machine available for you to take a closer look at the issue using TeamViewer, AnyDesk, or any other remote access tool.
May I know what OS that you are using to install the Quartu 13.1?

Sure, i have tried with all this setups:
1) Windows 11 & Windows 7 (Quartus II 13.1, 13.0, and 12.1 Subscription): Arria and Cyclone families work perfectly. Stratix III shows as installed in the device manager but is unavailable inside Quartus.2) Windows 7 (Quartus II 9.0 Web Edition): The Stratix III family appears in the family selection menu in Quartus, but our specific device (EP3SL150F1152) is listed as unsupported.
3) Ubuntu 12.04 (Quartus II 13.1 Subscription): Same behavior as Windows; the installer claims it is there, but Quartus does not show it.

Hi bsneves,
Just following up to see if you were able to check the .dat file for a Stratix III feature line, or if the issue is already resolved.

Hi bsneves,
Thank you for checking.
May I ask whether you have any existing Quartus license files, such as a Quartus Prime Standard or legacy Quartus II Subscription Edition license?
According to the device support information, Stratix III devices are supported in others Quartus software versions.

Hi bsneves,
Thank you for the details. The license you generated through the SSLC — "Discontinued – Quartus® II Software (License: SW-QUARTUS-WE-FIX)" — is a Web Edition license. The "WE" in the license name stands for "Web Edition".
To use the Stratix III Development Kit, you may consider the following options:
1. Purchase a Quartus II Subscription Edition license
Quartus II Subscription Edition licenses include support for Stratix III devices and will contain the required stratixiii feature line that enables the device family in Quartus.
2. Use a Quartus II Web Edition version that supports Stratix III
Based on the device support information from https://www.altera.com/design/guidance/software/device-support, Stratix III devices are available in Quartus II Web Edition 11.0 SP1. The SW-QUARTUS-WE-FIX license generated through the SSLC can be used with this Web Edition release. Please refer to the attached screenshot from the device support page for reference.

I hope this helps clarify the licensing behavior you are seeing.
When you have a chance, could you please try the suggested option and let me know how it goes?
If you have any additional questions or run into any issues, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
