DDR2-SDRAM High performance controller
Hi All,
I am currently using the DDR2-SDRAM High performance controller on Quartus II 8.0. I assume that the controller had been successfully generated. but i can not effectively test the the system as the example driver always hangs. I have noticed using signal tap that the signal mem_local_rdata_valid never got asserted by the controller. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks Test conditions: Stratix II EPS30F67 Micron's DDR2 MT47H16M16 Quartus II 8.0 Yems11 Replies

I used the starter edition of ModelSim. You have to follow the procedure given in the DDR2 user guide. I could not simulate DDR2 HPC directly from ModelSim as I was doing something wrong. But, if you launch the simulation from Quartus tool it worked(follow the simulation procedure from user guide). One good thing with Altera's simulation is, you need not write any code :).

What simulation tool did you use? I'm using ModelSim PE and I can't get my DDR2 HPC to simulate. What files did you use and what libraries?
Thanks - Altera_Forum

std_logic,
How do you fit a HPC-II in a EP3C5 ? (rhetoric question ...) - Altera_Forum

There were a number of bugs with this IP in 8.0. I would recommend using the latest tools and also set the PHY to Controller interface to AFI ( not NonAFI).
BTW, there is now a high performance controller II !!! - Altera_Forum

--- Quote Start --- High Performance is a setting (radio button) selection on DDR2 MegaVizard environment that you set and it makes the DDR2 core a high performance core. You don't manually change the core to make the core high performance. --- Quote End --- Oh I see. Thanks! - Altera_Forum

Hi Yems,
It looks like they a SP1 for 8.0. But if 9.1 works, I would rather use 9.1 instead of 8.0 SP1. Here is the link for 8.0 SP1 https://www.altera.com/support/software/download/service_packs/quartus/dnl-qii80sp1.jsp Kumaran - Altera_Forum

Hi Kumaran, Hi all
it seems to be a 8.0 issue. i've just successfully tried it with the 9.1. does anyone know if there is a patch for 8.0? Thanks Yems
