Are you able to run helloworld example w.r.t. UART on both boards just to conform that UART's are working?

To run this I2C remote system upgrade example you need to use below setup-

Quartus II v15.1 with the NIOS II Software Build Tools for Eclipse.

Max 10M50 Development Kit

Max 10M08 Evaluation Kit

Wires

Two 5kohm resistors

Some method of building a simple circuit (e.g. breadboard or soldering iron)

Once you tested in this Quartus II v15.1 then later you can upgrade this design to newer versions.

I did not perform any compilation, I simply followed the steps on page 11 of the documentation to program the board.

However, when executing the steps on page 16 to send Slave Image 1 and Slave Image 2 via UART, I found that UART is not able to send out messages properly.

Is this related to using Quartus II v15.1?

Did you first confirmed the UART testing with Helloworld example on the both boards?

If above is tested then also confirm on below

Are you using the proper relevant images on the boards for this I2C remote update. These examples are for the below boards-

Max 10M50 Development Kit

Max 10M08 Evaluation Kit
