Platform Design tool gets error when generating system: Error: border: Error during execution of script generate_hps_sdram.tcl: seq: Error during execution of "{C:/intelfpga_lite/19.1/quartus/../nios2eds/Nios II Command Shell.bat} make all 2>> stderr.txt"

This error happened due to the updated windows 10 version, if you have linux machine, you can generate it there.

I am checking internally if there are other workaround, but for now, try to use linux if you can.

Further investigation, if the patch above does not work. You may use the workaround mention below:

- uninstalled Ubuntu 18.04 (If you have)

- uninstalled wsl

- re-installed wsl

- downloaded latest Ubuntu 18.04 from Microsoft Shop & installed it

- executed following on Ubuntu shell :

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt install wsl

sudo apt install dos2unix

sudo apt install make

sudo apt-get upgrade

Go to check the jtagserver.exe (same path as in the generate log) whether it is enabled in the firewall for all network types, see below:

jtagserver firewall

You may have to click on the 'Change settings' button with a shield icon on it before the firewall rules are editable - they are locked against being changed by software.

You might need to have the admin to do this.

I have exactly the same issue and have tried both your your above suggestions without luck. I am trying to generate the GHRD for the DE-10 Nano (unchanged) and had it fail on Quartus 18.1 lite. I assumed it was a conversion error (as the GHRD (since it was made with 16.0. Tried it with 17.1 lite, 16.1 lite and 16.0 lite and all had the same issue. Contacted Terasci supported and they said they generated using standard not lite. Installed a trial of 16.0 Standard, same issue. Terasic now suggests trying a different computer or reinstalling the O/S =(.

Thanks Kenny. Do you know if the Windows 10 issue would interfere if I used a Linux Virtual Machine on top of it, or does it require a linux as the host O/S?

Hi PMatt10 my workaround was to use a linux machine. A pain and completely unnecessary but this works.
