Our Altera License Daemon has stopped working.

Could you help to reconfirm your license setup again and update your license daemon to the newest.

I believe we are already using the latest license daemon.

I downloaded lic_daemon_win64.zip from the link you provided. This file is identical to the zip file that I used when installing the license daemon the first time. Similarly, I compared our currently-installed C:\Altera\lic_daemon_win64\lmgrd.exe the lmgrd.exe with the file provided by lic_daemon_win64.zip from the link you provided, and they are identical:

For our currently installed C:\Altera\lic_daemon_win64\alterad.exe, file properties > General tab shows Created Date: March 27, 2016. The Details tab does not have a value for File Version.

For our currently installed C:\Altera\lic_daemon_win64\lmgrd.exe, file properties > General tab shows Created Date: March 16, 2016. The Details tab shows File Version: 11.13.1.3 and Product Version 11.13.1.3 build 176543

Please explain what you mean by "reconfirm your license setup again". I don't know what you are asking me to do.

​I found that if I manually start the license daemon via the following command, it runs with two pop-up windows, one for the lmgrd and one for the alterad:

"C:\Altera\lic_daemon_win64\lmgrd" -c "C:\Altera\License_File\altera_license.dat"

So it seems that the problem might be with the service. I tried using the lmtools GUI to delete and then re-create the service. I named the service "Altera License Manager"

The service worked for many months, until I rebooted this Windows server. Now it fails, as I indicated earlier.

Is there a way to get debug information from the service startup? As I said, I'm not finding anything in the event log. I will insert some screen-shots to show the service as defined in the GUI

Could you help to define/change port numbers for server line, mgcld and alterad daemons. FYI, The FLEXlm software works with Internet firewalls that require you to specify port numbers. You must specify a port number on the SERVER line in the license file (27000-28000 should not be used). You also have to specify different port numbers on each VENDOR line with the PORT=<number> syntax.

Finally, you must allow firewall access to those port numbers. The following example shows how to specify port numbers in a floating license file. example, specify ports 1800, 1801, and 1802.

SERVER myServer 0123456789ab 1800

VENDOR alterad ./alterad port=1801

VENDOR mgcld ./mgcld port=1802

Port Numbers in the FLEXlm Auto Assign region 27000-28000 should not be used.

If you do not specify a port number, the FLEXlm license manager automatically chooses a free port between 27000 and 27009. However, in Windows systems you must specify an explicit port number.

thanks for your suggestion. I updated the license file. I assigned port 1800 on the SERVER line and port 1801 on the alterad line. (We never used the mgcld daemon)

Also, the firewall on this server is disabled.

The issue has not changed. Still, we can run lmgrd manually from the command line in a cmd.exe tool. Still, we cannot run the daemon as a service. Still, no log file is written. Please see the updated Word doc which I now attach. All new information is at the bottom of the Word doc.
