my perpetual license works on Quartus 13.1, but shows expired on Quartus prime

I have used quartus 13.1 for many years with no problems, but our machines are now all 64 bit so I need to move Quartus prime. I bought a perpetual quartus license file which works fine with no expiration date, but on the latest Quartus Prime, the Quartus license manager dialog box says the license file expired in May 2025. Can someone explain what is going on.

I should clarify that I bought my license file many years ago and has always worked fine on (32-bit) Quartus II version 13.1 and shows no expiration date. On quartus prime, it shows an expiration date of May 2025.

      Hi,
I guess that the license works for Quartus up to V24 but probably not V25. I'm however not sure about the license conditions, if your license might be renewed, with or without payment.
  • Hi,

It seems like it is caused by maintenance expiration date. You can check your license file. Or can you may provide the license to us for checking.

      Hello NurAiman_M_Intel,

Thank you for looking into this. The license file appears to have no expiration date (it is a perpetual license). The cost of a maintenance update to the license is $3500. Since I am a 69 year old retiree that is doing this FPGA work as a hobby (no commercial use, just my own free time), spending this kind of money makes no sense at all.

Would Intel be willing to do a goodwill gesture and provide a reduced license fee for my personal use? All I need is support for a 20 year old board with a EP2AGX65DF25C4 Arria II GX part on it.

      Thank you,

      Robert Morrison
