Inquiry about device support for AGIB027R29A1E2VR3 in Quartus Prime Pro v25.1.0

Hello,

For a project, I'm looking to target AGIB027R29A1E2VR3 FPGA device in Quartus Prime v25.1.0. However, during the compilation flow, at the Assembler (Generate programming files) stage, I'm receiving an error message saying:

Can not generate programming files for your current project because you do not have a valid license. Visit the Intel FPGA Self-Service Licensing Center at https://licenseing.intel.com

While looking through the support forum, I found this article, which suggested that the hiding of the appropriate INI file in my version of Quartus could be an issue. Unfortunately, I cannot revert to an older version of Quartus or use other devices in the AGIB027R29A1E2 family.

Would it be possible to receive the INI file that enables the use of FPGA device AGIB027R29A1E2VR3?

      I have another question regarding the Assembler (Generate programming files) step in the Compilation Flow in Quartus Prime Pro 25.1 with the target device set as AGIB027R29A1E2VR3.

      After configuring Quartus with the INI file, I tried to run the full compilation flow, during which an error occurs, saying Can not generate programming files for your current project because you do not have a valid license. Visit the Intel FPGA Self-Service Licensing Center at https://licensing.intel.com), with Message ID 23714 and no other details. Currently, my Quartus is configured using the trial license Quartus® Prime Software 90-Day Evaluation (Standard and Pro Editions) (License: EVALUATION-LIC), and other than Assembler, compilation seems to work fine. I initially suspected the lack of INI file for my device to be the root of the error, but as I'm seeing it again even after configuration, I'm not certain now.

      Can you help me troubleshoot this error? Is there something I can do on my end to fix the licensing issue?

      Under Assembler Encrypted IP Cores Summary from the Compilation Report, it seems that IP Core CXL IP for Device Type 2 with Device Coherency (6AF7 0185) is being recognized as unlicensed.

      Do you know why this might be happening, as when I look at Tools -> License Setup -> Licensed AMPP/IP cores functions, that particular IP appears to be licensed?

    The evaluation license for CXL does not support POF/SOF generation.

    You have two options:

    1.Use the Altera CXL IP Design Example (includes pre-generated SOF files for specific boards only; note: no changes to the IP or Design Example are allowed).

    2. Purchase the CXL IP license.

    Thank you for your clarification on this question and my other question. As I'm new to using this CXL IP and still exploring, I would like to ask a few more questions regarding the options you brought up. I would have to discuss Option #2 with my colleagues, but for Option #1, how would it work?

    • Can the CXL IP Design Example be found within the evaluation version of Quartus Prime Pro, or does it need to be obtained separately?
      • If there are no costs involved, I would appreciate receiving the CXL IP Design Example.
    • To double-check, is the CXL IP Design Example standalone? (i.e. It cannot be used to generate pof/sof files of my project)

    I’ve checked and found that the CXL documentation—User Guide #763328 and Design Example UG #763513—is available on the Intel Resource & Documentation Center (RDC). However, access to these documents requires an active CNDA (Confidential Non-Disclosure Agreement) between Altera (Intel) and your company.


    Could you confirm whether your company has an active CNDA in place?


    Also, are you currently in contact with a sales representative or FAE (Field Application Engineer)? If so, I recommend reaching out to them— they might assist you in obtaining access to the CXL user guide and design example.

      Thank you for your suggestion. I will attempt more debugging with the qsf file and error messages to see if it helps.

      As for your suggestions about CNDA and reaching out to a sales representative, I will relay your suggestion to my manager. I think he is talking to an Intel representative about this issue, so it may be more effective to communicate that way. I require any more support regarding this matter, I will send message via this thread.
