Alterad fails to work with new license

I have recently generated a floating license for Quartus and Questa to replace a license that was out of its maintenance period. After I loaded it onto the FlexLM server, I found that Quartus no longer sees the license. However, when reverting back to our old license, I noted that Quartus could see it.

Looking at the server status when using the new license shows this:

This clearly shows that the alterad says there is no socket available to license server manager. Why is this the case and why would reverting back to an old license file resolve it?

FlexLM and the daemons have all been updated to the latest versions.

    Welcome to INTEL forum. Pre my understanding, the error: alterad: No socket connection to license server manager.

    License path: 27001@BPL-DEV01;

    FlexNet Licensing error:-7,10015

    The error message indicates that the connection was interrupted because the device switched to a different access point while roaming. This typically occurs when the default ports are being utilized or if a VPN/Firewall configuration is preventing the connection.

    To resolve this issue, please ensure that ports are open and accessible in your network's firewall settings. If you have a Firewall in place or if there are other License servers running on the same device, you might need to modify the Server Ports. You can do this by clicking the Server Ports button and making the necessary changes.

      Thanks for your reply.

      We looked at what you've suggested and can confirm that the firewall is not preventing the connection. As I've said in my original post, when we revert to our older license file, which contains the same paths and port settings, the Licence Manager is able to access the Altera Daemon. This suggests that there is a problem with the new license file some how.

      I have compared both files and can confirm that there's no hidden characters around the port settings.

      Any ideas on how to proceed?

    Hi

    Thanks for update. Could you restart server.

    Solution:

    Restart your Windows/Linux Server to eliminate all services and force a new start. On Windows, check the “Force Server Shutdown” box on the “Start/Stop/Reread” tab in lmtools.exe. Open the LMTOOLS again and perform status enquiry, it should show the SERVER UP now.

    Start the service to see if it launches. You will see a small message at the bottom of the LMTools windows stating if it started or not.

    If it does not start, select the 'Config Services' tab and select 'View Log'. Make a copy of this log and attach for further checking.
