19 years agouClinux installation
Dear all,
I have problem with installation of uClinux 1.4. I have done following: 1.installed 61_quartus_free.exe 2.installed 61_ip_windows.exe 3.installed 61_nios2eds_windows.exe 4.installed uClinux1.4 All options were set to default. I am able to run IDE, start new kernel project but when i try to configure kernel or build kernel I get some errors. Does anybody has any idea what to do? Thx for reply16 Replies

If you want to develope uClinux, you should work on Linux PC. Please follow the wiki.

Dear Hippo,
So does this mean that the NIOS-IDE that I used and loved since Quartus 4 or 5 (I forget when I started) will no longer integrate tightly with uClinux? I truly agree with your statement that working on Linux will result in better uClinux code but it is so difficult to manage multi-OS systems to deliver a product when you are forced to work within a MS Windows environment. So I should throw out any dream of getting back to what I had prior to the release of 6.1 Altera Suite. Best regards, Omid. - Altera_Forum

You may try coLinux, which can co-exit with MSWindow. (or VMware etc).
Though I didn't realy use them myself. I would rather do everything on Linux. - Altera_Forum

We are using now NiosI and uClinux from Microtronix under Windows, but we need to change our project to Nios II so we will need new Kernel and some changes in device drivers. Could anybody help me with this situation? When I read documentation from Microtronix it seems that it should work under Windows. Thx for reply.

The Microtronix's Nios2 uClinux release 1.4 should be installed to Quartus 5.0 on MS Windows.

You use all the same version.
But kwokwong said, <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div> --- Quote Start --- From the Nios II SDK Shell, try running the following commands: cd /cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Microtronix\ Nios\ II\ Linux\ Distribution ./install_cyg_ext.sh It should install the Cygwin Extensions for you.[/b] --- Quote End --- Maybe you can try this on 6.1 . - Altera_Forum

I tried this, but it doesn't help. Now I am installing verson 5 of all 3 components (quartus, IP megacore and IDE) and then I will let you know the tatus.

I do it by the uClinux and NIOSII 6.0 sp1. It is ok.
But I try the uClinux and NIOSII 6.1 then there are a lot of problem. I find that there are some problem about the setting path. - Altera_Forum
