Nios II Evaluation Kit (1c12)

Hello,

I have the Nios II Evaluation Kit (altera cyclone 1c12).

As i understand, to use it with uClinux i need the license for MTIP Ethernet MAC?

Could somebody provide me with example of uClinux ready (with MAC controller) project for this Kit?

I can't understand, how can i build my own hardware project with this kit.

The examples comes with kit does not includes the MAC, compatible with nios.

sorry for my English. Please help.

    Hello aj_,

Microtronix has an OpenCores.org Development Package that includes the OpenCores.org 10/100 EMAC with support for the TDK PHY on the Evaluation Kit board, as well as an SOPC Builder component and Avalon bus interface. It also comes with a reference design for that board. It is completely open source so you can do whatever you like with it, including building custom designs.

more information is available here. (http://www.microtronix.com/product_ocmac.htm)

Our package also includes support for using the EMAC in Standalone mode (HAL) and with uC/OS-II.

    Regards,

    Robert

    Thank you.

I have made the wrapper for wishbone interface in Emac core, so it works now http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

    Robert,

Sorry for jumping in uninvited, but the link you posted seems broken.

Is there still a way to use the OpenCores Emac on the Eval. board ?

I get the feeling wasted $400 on a board that "kind'of" allows you to use the network, but only if you spend another couple of hundreds...

On a very related note, I am a college student working with the Nios II Evaluation kit for a design project. I would like to have a RTOS but just a basic IP stack and the ability to access the proto I/O would suffice. Also, I would like to be able to write the application to flash so that it would come up and run without the IDE being connected. Is this possible without buying something else?

    Thanks,

    Wade
