Virtex-5 equivalent Altera FPGA

Hi all,

I am planning to use Virtex-5 XC5VLX155T FPGA from Xilinx. It supports RocketIO GTP transceivers from 100 Mb/s to 3.75 Gb/s. Which is the equivalent Altera FPGA ? If technology node is considered then i think Startix-III family is equivalent. But support only upto 1 Gb/s transceiver.

Can anybody help me in choosing an equivalent Altera FPGA

Thanks and regards

dkk

Take a look at the Arria II X family.

Do not get confused by the Altera naming structure.

In order to get the RocketIO function in an Altera part, you will need something with a "GX" in the name.

Maybe the 125 or the 190 will do - it depends on the number of internal Registers or LE's you arte looking for.

You could also look at the newer Cyclone IV GX family - it all depends on how much of what (LE, F/F, Multipliers, IO, Transceivers, Memory) you need.

    I hope this helps.
