DE4 not getting recognized in PCI Express slot

Hi,

I installed the DE4 board in the PCIe x16 slot. The board gets powered up and i was able to download DE4_Fundamenatal.sof example. After this when i try to run the PCIe_Fundamental_Demo.exe, it displays "Failed to connect the PCIe board". I am using Windows XP for this example. I installed the drivers provided in PCIe_SDK folder.

Any pointers to why this might be happening.

Thanks & Regards

Hari

    Hi Socrates,

Thanks for the reply. The steps performed are explained below.

    1. Installed the PCIe driver provided by Terasic.

    2.Installed DE4 on PC.

    3.Downloaded DE4_Fundamental.sof into the DE4 board.

    4. Restarted Windows

5.Launched the demo program PCIe_Fundamental_Demo.exe. When i try this i get the issue mentioned above.

The JTAG Control Dip Switch are by default in ON position

The PCI Express Control DIP Switch SW9.3 is ON by default. It corresponds to Enable x8 presence detect. I am using Windows XP for this example.

    Thanks & Regards

    Hari

    altrayeh...,

Can you describe little more on your DE4 board problem? Altera's example doesn't work well on DE4 board. PCIe pins connections are same, but the reference clock (free running) isn't. DE4 board has a clock selection dip switch, and you need to select to use 100MHz. Then in Altera's example, change input clock speed to 100MHz. This should give least x1 lane connection at Gen 1.

    Hi,

I am also facing the same problem with this De4 board. I followed the instructions downloaded the .sof file to the board and restarted the board and my Board is still not recognized. All I can see is PCI Device with a yellow caution sign in device manager. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

    Hello,

make sure you have the dip switch pointing the 100 MHz. I think the board by default uses another clock input.
