11 years agoArriaII GX Transceivers termination
I am planning to use arriaIIGX(780pin EP2AGX65DF29C4) for HD-SDI reciver.
I am planning to use Transceivers(for example GXB_RX0p(AG23),GXB_RX0n(AH23)(reciever)). Receiver has 100 ohm on chip termination on a figure of the attachment. When I set SDI IP by megawizard and connect GXB_RX0p and GXB_RX0n to SDI input, does on chip teraminaton become effective? Isn't there other difficult operation to set on chip termination for sdi receiver? Don't I have to put external 100 ohm termination for sdi receiver? I am planning to use REFCLK0p(AE27)REFCLK0n(AE28) for HD-SDI reference clock. It is on chip termination in case of protocol=SDI,IO standard=LVDS (attachment). When I set SDI IP by megawizard and connect REFCLK0p(AE27) and REFCLK0n(AE28) to SDI reference clock, does on chip teraminaton become effective? Is this termination 100 ohm? Isn't there other difficult operation to set on chip termination for sdi reference clock? Don't I have to put external 100 ohm termination for sdi reference clock?5 Replies

Hi okuyamamakoto,
As I know the Altera transceiver's receiver buffer are mostly AC coupled (with internal 100 Ohm) I believe you can set this in the ALTGX and double checked this in the fitter report. I believe for some devices, you could set it through the assignment editor and qsf. You can give this a try - Altera_Forum

Hi,
Generally the 100Ohm OCT will be auto-assigned by Fitter if user does not specify any termination setting. However, it is recommended to double check in the Fitter report. Alternatively, you can manually set it through the assignment editor to ensure the setting. - Altera_Forum

--- Quote Start --- Thank you ,ah_zhi02-san and bfkdtimchan-san I found OCT 100 ohm(reciever and refclk)in fitter report. So I removed external termination(100ohm) from reciever and refclk. But clk* input termination is off. So I put external termination on clk* input(attachment). Best regards, okuyama --- Quote End --- Hi, The refclk pin should support OCT as well. You can try to enable the OCT through Assignment Editor. - Altera_Forum

Just to add that you should be able to enable the OCT in pin planner.
