Quartus on university linux server and students at home

I would like that my students can connect from home to the quartus on linux at the university behind a firewall.
Currently we use https://guacamole.apache.org/ as a clientless remote desktop gateway using RDP and it works very fine but we don't have board support.

We have a lot of DE10-Lite boards and lend one to each student.
I'm looking for a procedure to connect from home to the linux server where quartus is and use a DE10-Lite board form home.

Maybe using native RDP or other idea ?

Thanks a lot

Eric

I have done this before when working from home. Use a VPN, and use Xwindows to connect to the work server running Quartus for compilation and simulations.

Then locally install the Quartus Standalone Programmer tool to program a local board via USB with the image file.

So all the main work can be done on the server, and the local system runs the programmer tool via USB to program the board.

Never tried to use remote USB via RDP. There are some software packages out there that purport to be able to do this.
But much simpler to keep the USB aspect local and use the Intel/Altera standalone programmer tool on the local system.

      You are overthinking the problem.

The DE10-Lite is a MAX10 based board with no etherNet and no embedded processor.

Giving each student an etherBlaster is IMHO a non-starter.

Just install the standalone license free Quartus programmer tool on each student's home PC and the problem is solved.
