Read AS Mode Configuration Flash

Question

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to read out the content of the

configuration flash device with Quartus and ByteBlaster II?

I can program and verify the content but I found no way to

read out and store the image. I am using AS-Mode and have

two 10 pin connectors on the board. One is connected to the

Serial Configuration Device and the other one is connected

to the JTAG port of the FPGA.

The function is provided by the Quartus programmer. Check "examine" operation.

I can read the AS-Flash with the examine function if the USB Blaster

is connected to the Serial Configuration Device. Is it also possible to read and

write the AS-Flash by using only the JTAG port from the FPGA? Background is,

that I own an evaluation board where I would like to backup the current image and

flash it with a new one. On this evaluation board only the JTAG connector is accessible.
