    I am not familiar with the pendantic errors. Could this be a feature supported in the QuestaSim?

    Try to use QuestaSim to see if the issue occurs. If the error do not occur, then it is likely not supported in the Altera version. 
    If the issue occurs, I would suggest to file a ticket to the Siemen team for further support.
    FYI, the Questa FPGA Starter Edition is a lesser version of QuestaSim.

Hello and thanks for your earlier reply. The code is very simple and compiles and simulates properly (no errors or warnings), either with the default GUI flow or my scripted flow.

The crash I have encountered occurs when performing a design restart in questa, when pendantic errors are enabled.

I believe this is a bug in questa regarding handling of *.wlf files.

I have not been able to resolve the issue, but sidestep it by displaying another signal with the same data.

      It seems to be supported in the Altera version aside from this particular edge case. I do not have access to QuestaSim (non-starter). I will attempt to file a ticket with Siemens.
