    I am not familiar with the pendantic errors. Could this be a feature supported in the QuestaSim?

    Try to use QuestaSim to see if the issue occurs. If the error do not occur, then it is likely not supported in the Altera version. 
    If the issue occurs, I would suggest to file a ticket to the Siemen team for further support.
    FYI, the Questa FPGA Starter Edition is a lesser version of QuestaSim.

Please use the supported simulation flow, either the recommended RTL simulation (NativeLink) or the scripted simulation flow.
When compiling the top‑level design in Quartus, the tool should report any issues through error messages if there are problems in the design.
