QuartusII 10.0 installation problem

I start a new thread trying to synthesize in a single one the problem reported in the threads:

can't install quatus v10.0 under xp (http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24184)

and

problem installing 10.0_modelsim_ase_windows (http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24172)

It seems that QuartusII 10.0 web free edition does not install properly

on many systems (Vista, XP32bit, XP64bit).

The installation finishes giving no errors but the software is not installed. The link to the executable is present but not the software (very few file in the 10.0\quartus directory, and no executable).

Is there any Altera people that cna help with this installation problem?

    How to install v10.0 software under Windows XP:

    1. run v10.0 software installer (for example 10.0_quartus_windows.exe) and choose a suitable destination folder for unpacking (for example g:\Tmp). Cancel the further installation when the files are unpacked.

    2. run command line installer :

    g:\Tmp\10.0_quartus_windows\altera_installer\bin\altera_installer_cmd.exe -i quartus -s g:\Tmp\10.0_quartus_windows -t d:\Altera

    (in accordance with "Altera Software Installation and Licensing" guide, table 3. altera installer command-line arguments)

    You can see installation activity in the Task Мanager.

    Repeat these operations for all software that you are interested in.

    I tried the command line installation and did:

    >cmd

    >cd C:\...\Temp\10.0_quartus_free_windows\altera_installer\bin

    >altera_installer_cmd.exe --target=c:\altera\10.0 -s C:\...\Temp\10.0_quartus_free_windows --install=quartus_free -w

    in the c:\altera\10.0 directory the quartus directory and the following files appear: altera_installer.log bin.zip common.zip designs.zip ip.zip others.zip

    This installed the software but no devices are installed.

    I'll post again as soon I manage to solve this

    Hmm... I think I'm sticking with V9.2 for a while, until some of the bugs are thrashed out of v10.00. Has anyone had any trouble importing projects from 9.2? (incl SOPC builder files)

    i also have the some problem. quartus 10.0 can not be installed properly using altera installer. i am using windows xp sp2

    Trying to install the devices I run the cmd line:

    C:\...>altera_installer_cmd.exe --gui --update --target=c\:altera\10.0

    selected Quartus II Web edition software (Free) and all the device families.

    The installation is now complete and working (apparently, the Quartus suite runs and allows to create a new project and select device family)

    You can install devices support manually.

    Switch to unpacked quartus folder

    ..\10.0_quartus_windows\devices\subscription

    and run from command line the folloving:

    quartus_sh --qinstall -qda <qda_device_file_name> -show_qt_progress

    (where <qda_device_file_name> is the name of qda file for Altera device family, for example arriagx) for the all devices .qda files.

    to the original poster and anyone else experiencing installation problems, please file an SR so the problem can be debugged by Altera

    I have seen an antivirus do nasty things to installs. What kind of antivirus you guys might be using?

    I've been using AVG 9.

    However.

    After a manual install of the software it is now working.
