Quartus Prime Lite 25.1 License Error - "Unable to checkout a license" (SALT_LICENSE_SERVER)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to run a simulation in Quartus Prime Lite 25.1 on Windows, but it fails right away with this error:

"Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variable (SALT_LICENSE_SERVER) is set correctly"

Does anyone had the same problem? And how can i fix it?

    Your setup in Quartus doesn't really matter for your issue since you're using the Lite edition.

    As for QuestaSim, it looks like you have the environment variable set up correctly.  Is this a newly generated license file?  Open up the .dat file and check the date and that the MAC address is correct for a network interface on your computer.

    You should also run lmutil lmdiag as suggested.
