Programmer - Need to select device twice?

Hi,

I'm using a TSom Evaluation Kit with a Cyclone V.

Every time I open the Programmer to upload my sof file, I have an device already selected. If I try to upload the configuration, it fails (see picture 1)

But if I go to "add file", select the file manually the same (?) device is added to the list and if I select "Program/Configure" on the 2nd device than it works (see picture 2)

Usually I wouldn't care that much, but this costed me almost 2 days of trying, while almost every tutorial I saw doesn't need to do that. What's behind this?

    Hi Thomas,

    By right it shouldnt be as the development kit has only 1 cyclone V SoC device. May i know how do you upload the sof?

    Can you try to click "auto detect" first to let quartus determine the device available and then only add sof file into it?
