Problem completing the NIOS II Hardware development tutorial.

Hi.

i ran the tutorial, all went fine, until i reached the part where i need to write the software (page 37).

the tutorial says to open 'Software Build Tools for Eclipse', and then to press File -> New -> Nios II Application and BSP from Template. i don't find that option.

there is no mentioning of Nios at all in the New menu.

i tried to open EDS, but i still cant find the "Nios II Application and BSP from Template" option.

i just downloaded the latest software, version 11, service pack 1.

Please Help!!

    I'm not clear on your problem can you not find the Eclipse Software in the start menu? "Nios II EDS 11.0sp1" OR the option to create a new Nios II application within the EDS?

    When you installed Quartus 11_SP1 it should have also installed "Nios II EDS 11.0sp1" you can find it in the start menu, should be right above the Quartus 11 Start menu folder.

    If it installed correctly you should have the option to create a new Nios II application like you said. You can also create a new application by clicking on the icon underneath the File menu (widow with a plus), make sure to click on the down arrow, and then selecting Nios II application and BSP from Template

    thanks for the reply.

    i do have all the software installed, and i am able to run it.

    what i'm missing is the correlation from the tutorial to the software.

    i'm taking the "Nios II Hardware Development tutorial" and i am stuck on the bottom of page 32, because the software i have does not have the option specified in the tutorial.

    Software Build Tools for Eclipse', and then to press File -> New -> other-> Nios II->Nios II Application and BSP from Template.

    U see all the options in other.

    Hi.

    i tried that.

    didn't find the option in other either. i have there only standard C/C++ objects.

    maybe it is because i had eclipse installed before the EDS.

    i'll try to remove all and then reinstall.

    Yes I think so also then beacause when you instal EDS it asks you to install in a directory where quartus is installed to sync with the libraries for NIOS II perspective.I have same version Quarus 11 with no problem.

    I had the same problem when I first installed Quartus II version 11.0. I had to uninstall then reinstall the Quartus II package to get it to work. For some reason Eclipse can install without the Nios II option. Not sure why, but reinstall worked for me.

    I also had Eclipse installed before installing Quartus II with Nios II EDS but it worked fine for me. When reinstalling Quartus II ensure that you select that it also installs Nios II EDS I believe with the web version it doesn't give you an option and just installs it.,

    Problem solved.

    i uninstalled everything that belonged to altera, deleted eclipse, and the installed quartus again. now it works.
