New Computer can NOT generate free license

Hello,

In June 2026, I have generated one license for the Questa-Intel FPGA Starter Edition 2023.2 on my old computer.

And today I got a new computer and I have created a new Host with the new Computer Name, Computer Type,  License Type, Primary Computer ID.

When I clicked Generate License, I got this error :

Is there anyone who knows how to solve this issue?

Thank you very much

No, you don't need to release free Questa licenses. You can have as many you need.

  • I received your private message. The Questa FPGA Starter Edition license is a no-cost license, so there is no need to rehost your existing license.

You can generate a new license by following these steps:
    1. Go to Sign Up for Evaluation or No-Cost Licenses on the Altera SSLC portal.
    2. Select Questa FPGA Starter Edition from the list of available no-cost licenses.
    3. Enter the Host ID (NIC ID) of the machine where you intend to use the license.

If you encounter any issues during license generation, please let me know and share screenshots of the steps where the process fails.

    Regards,

If your license is already tied to your old computer, you have to release that license before you can generate a license for the new computer.

Thank you very much for your help.

But the license that I used for my old computer is sent by Altera Help team. So that license is not in my Liscense List.
