modelsim-altera does not launch

Modelsim-altera fails to launch from Quartus when doing tools - run eda simulation tool - eda-rtl-simulation. Normally, this would occur if modelsim-altera executables were not in the PATH variable, or if tools - options - eda tools - modelsim-altera were not set.

But, modelsim-altera starts from a command window in any directory by typing modelsim - this indicates modelsim-altera is in the path. And, the modelsim-altera executable location is entered in the EDA tool options in tools - options - eda tools.

I'm running Quartus 9.0 SP1

So, I don't get it.... anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks - Reyk

my ModelSim-AE is working on 9.0sp1.

do you have your Quartus setup for NativeLink ModelSim-AE and a testbench configured in Assignments => Settings => EDA Tool Settings?

I'm currently re-installing quartus, so I'll check this when it's back up...

I did notice that somehow I got modelsim-altera-starter edition (no license required) rather than modelsim_altera (license required). So, I'm getting the licensed version of modelsim to run with my Quartus license, and see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks,
