USB kernel config

Hi,

We're using the Cypress SL811 host controller on our NIOS2 board. The kernel config option wasn't available until I edited the Kconfig file in the source tree (drivers/usb/host/Kconfig), found the appropriate option, and added

You guys really need to go through and update the stuff which is in there to make it available. :-)

Or does this stuff only work in NIOS 1 but not NIOS2? (I haven&#39;t compiled yet.)

This was the case with all USB support too, you may recall.

    that sl811 driver works only under kernel 2.4.

    Why? It&#39;s in the mainline 2.6 sources. Has anyone done any work to make it work with 2.6?

    I&#39;d love to get a copy of that.

    I&#39;ve been working on it myself; I&#39;ve added some basic stubs in dma-mappings.h, commented out the interrupt enable for the moment, and changed the irq handler to return IRQ_HANDLED; not very detailed, but it would be great to get a version where more thought was put into it.

    Would it be possible for you to send it to me, or put it somewhere where it can be gotten at? Or at least outline was needs to be changed?

    You can get a new driver from the source of 2.6.10 kernel.

    Do you mean the mainline kernel, or a special microtronix one?

    Also, doesn&#39;t it need dma mappings? (dma_map_single, dma_unmap_single, etc.) Do you have any suggestions for implementing them, or just the obvious no mapping is needed so just return the pointer we&#39;re passed?

    yes. the mainline kernel source.

    just putting some dummy there to pass the compiling should be enough.

    Hey, thanks for your help. The driver says this in sl811h_probe: 

            /* basic sanity checks first.  board-specific init logic should
         * have initialized these three resources and probably board
         * specific platform_data.  we don&#39;t probe for IRQs, and do only
         * minimal sanity checking.
         */

    Any suggestions on where to put the board-specific init logic? (and any pointers to documentation on how to do this? Chapter 14 of Linux Device Drivers (3rd ed) discusses this slightly, but seems long on PCI and short on everything else.)

    somewhere in arch/nios2nommu/, you may be able to find examples in other architectures.

    I don&#39;t suppose that since you have a fairly working copy, you could post your resource init code to use as a guide? If not, I understand, but it would be very helpful. Thanks!
