Serial connection not working on nios 2 board

Hi,

I've tried to connect my pc to the nois2 board according to the nios_gsg_stratix_1s40.pdf, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've tested the RS 232 cable and its working fine. When i connect it to the board and run nios-run -t -r through the nios sdk shell, the stuff thats supposed to happen doesn't.

all i get is:

nios-run: Entering terminal moce over COM1: at 115200 bps

nios-run: treminal mode<control-c exits>

-----------------------------------------------------------

Has any one experienced this before? Can someone help...

    Are you sure you are using a design that uses that as its form of communication? And judging by this <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>

    it sounds like you are trying to run NIOS I

    Can you clarify what you are trying to do?
