Missing "Run configurations" in Nios II EDS 9.1

After upgrading to the newest version of Quartus, ModelSim and Nios II EDS (9.1) I have encountered a problem.

I have created new Nios II Application along with BSP based on CycloneII SoPC using nios ii 9.1 software build tools for eclipse (is this supposed to be replacement for nios ii ide?). Project builds without problem, but in "Run configurations" menu for this project there is only one configuration type: "Local C/C++ Application". It seems, as if IDE treats that project as normal C/C++ project, not Nios II one (similarly to regular C/C++ Eclipse IDE).

Based on my experience with previous versions of Nios II IDE I expected to see ISS, ModelSim and hardware run configurations, but they're not there. I scoped through newest versions of Altera docs, but didn't find any solution for this problem. The problem doesn't exist with Nios II IDE, but I don't know if I should use it, because it is included in EDS as a "legacy tool".

I hope some of you can help me. If you want me to provide more info, please ask.

I'm running 9.1 versions of Quartus, ModelSim and Nios II EDS on Windows 7 64bit.

i think that the conceptual design of all altera software is not for 64bit

I'm not sure what you mean by "all altera software".

See Altera's page on OS support - plenty of 64 bit stuff there.

This is a more of a Win7 issue, because it is not yet formally supported.

    edit:

Update on this problem after total uninstall (including manual directory removal) and fresh install of 9.1 and 9.1 SP1 in Win7 x64.

    Problem solved.

    Hi,

I had the same problem and solved it just installing nios II IDE version 9.1 with service pack on windows 7 64-bit professional and running application on compatibility mode for windows vista service pack 2. ( right click, properties, activate compatibility mode and choose vista service pack 2).

It´s important to remeber thar when I installed Nios IDE, windows seven (just after installation) told that software installation was unsucessfull and asked me if I wanted to install the sfotware again with correct configurations, and I said Yes.

    That´s it.

I ran into the similar problem in Windows 7, there is a "Nios II Software Build Tools for Eclipse", there is no "run as Nios II hardware" any more, and the user interface is different, there is no "_syslib" project any more, but a "_dsp" project.

where I can find the more fimiliar user interface with "_syslib" ?

is it the legacy "Nios II IDE 9.1"?

First right click on the icon of the program -> properties -> compatibility tab

mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box and then choose windows vista service pack 2 on the menu. -> ok

after that, every time you run Nios II IDE, run it at administrator right click -> run as administrator -> yes.

Your syslib is one of the files on the bsp part of the project

Just to confirm what is in this post. I am running NIOS Build Tools 9.1 and had the missing run configurations problem on Windows 7. Altering the properties of the shortcut to run in Compatibility with Windows XP SP3 and as System Administrator worked great for me.
