20 years agoMicrotronix linux doesn't appear in Nios II IDE
I have winXP SP2, Quartus II v5.0. I was working with Nios II v1.1 and µClinux for nios 1.3 and everything was all right. After I uninstalled the both last Soft (µClinux then Nios II v1.1) I've installed Nios II v5.0 then µClinux 1.4, but when I can't find microtronix linux on New Project.
I've uninstalled and installed several times, no way, but when I installed µClinux 1.3 with Nios II v5.0 I could saw again the linux project but I can't build anything du to several errors. Did anybody has a solution for Windows before I turn on Linux. Thnx16 Replies

Hi MFM,
Sorry, no idea about the NiosII IDE, Try hippo's toolchain here... http://forum.niosforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3174 (http://forum.niosforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3174) - Altera_Forum

Try to look at your environment variables and path settings.
I have Quartus 5.0 and NiosIDE 5.0 with uClinux 1.4. I had some troubles with cygwin, so I uninstalled everything then did a regclean and installed it again, then it worked. After I updated to the 5.1 versions I have some troubles with microtronix uClinux 1.4 because 5.1 tools are not yet supported. With 5.1 tools upload has to be done from the command line. - Altera_Forum

I would do a clean install of Nios II and Quartus II....Be sure to check your environment variables and registry settings, as well.

Hi,
I am a new pie. According to the Microtronix Nios II Linux Distribution's Quick Start Guide, I should find the 'Microtronix Nios II' sub directory in the Nios II IDE .However, I find nothing.Should i need to do some steps to configue the environment after the installation. if I ingore the Nios II IDE,and run linux on a embedded system just like hippo tells us is more efficient.but it was too hard for a new pie meanwhile.i am really confused, thanks for your guidane. I am working on quartus 5.0,nios2 5.0. - Altera_Forum

Hi huanghe,
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div> --- Quote Start --- I should find the 'Microtronix Nios II' sub directory in the Nios II IDE .However, I find nothing.Should I need to do some steps to configue the environment after the installation.[/b] --- Quote End --- There's a little trick about that, in fact you got to execute the SOPC Builder at least once before using µClinux. And verify you're using µClinux 1.4, otherwise, it won't work with Nios II V5.0. And let me know if it still stuck. Warm Regards - Altera_Forum

Microtronix linux is dead since years. See the NIOS Wiki for current distributions.
