Help ERROR: SOPC_KIT_NIOS2 - Undefined variable

Hi i am a beginner in using nios.I tried to build hello world from nios ide and its giving me the following error

D:/altera/91sp2/quartus/NIOS_DE2/software/Testing_bsp/../../TOP_LV.jdi

ERROR: SOPC_KIT_NIOS2 - Undefined variable

make: *** [Testing.elf] Error 255

make: *** Deleting file `Testing.elf'

i am using quartus/nios ide 9.1 with service pack 2 installed

i have my SOPC_KIT_NIOS2 environent variable set to D:\altera\91\nios2eds

but still i dont understand why its giving me this error. i canot find an altera.components folder in my project explorer window in IDE.It would be great if you guys can give me some suggestions with this issue

    Hi,

    what OS are you using? Have you tried install version 10.0 and try again?

    can u pls tell me how to reproduce this issue?

    Hello,

    I have exactly the same problem under the same circumstances.

    I'm using windows 7, and intalling version 10 is not an option as it is not supported in my company.

    Marmota77,

    you can install nios ii v10.0 in windows 7, it's supported. if you still encounter same problem, try to build the project in command shell. invoke the command shell from nios ii workspace. right-click project --> nios ii --> nios ii command shell --> and type 'make' to build the project. please check the environment variables.
