can't create linux project

Hi,

I have downloaded and installed nios2linux-1.4, but in the new project menu, I can't find Microtronix Nios II folder which is described in Linux Quick Start Guide.pdf, as the following show:

Nios II IDE, Click File -> New -> Project…

Select the Microtronix Nios II -> Linux Kernel Project item from the list

My NiosII IDE version:

Nios II Integrated Development Environment

Version: 5.0

Build: 73c

Thanks any help,

David

I am newbie to uClinux, too. You should consider do it on Linux really. Have a look at the thread "Mini howto build toolschain and initramfs on Linux" from me. That's what I got in two months with uCLinux.

    Oh,no...

I find the following info from readme.txt for nios2linux-1.4 released version.

This release is designed to work with Quartus® II 5.0 on:

Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

It shows that uClinux can run in windows XP, doesn't it?

    Thanks any help,

    David

Sure, you can run it on XP.

But it is not smooth, you still have to run on cygwin console from time to time.

If you want uClinux, you should learn Linux and do it on Linux.

Use a Samba server/client to share between XP and Linux.

You can develop hardware on XP, build software on Linux, then download/debug on XP.

You can use VNC server/client or KVM switcher to work with only one monitor/keyboard/mouse.

Marc have a good site for nios2 toolchain on Linux,

    http://scorpius.homelinux.org/~marc/nios2.html (http://scorpius.homelinux.org/~marc/nios2.html).
