problem with data type ''single''

I tried to run a simple product with altera dsp builder advanced blocksets. then I compliled the project and program it on stratix IV board. when I set the data type to fixed point in dsp builder I can see the correct result in signal tap ii analyzer, but when I put the data type in single or double the output in signal tap ii will be zero!!

what is the problem?

can anyone help me plz?

    Does the design work in ModeSim simulation, for example using the DSP Builder > Verify Design UI? If not, do you have the design?
