PCI Express Switch

Hi

Is there any reference or material on design a pci express switch? Would it be complicated? How long it takes to design it(estimation)? What is the practise in the industry normally? to use a asic chip or implement in fpga?

    Use an external ASIC. PLX Technologies makes very good PCI and PCIe devices.
