Hi,
I am going to create a system, which compress an image from camera to JPEG stream and sends it to PC. NIOS will be a control unit, I wrote my compression soft based on Independent JPEG Group's library but it is too slow. I am wondering if there is any hardware solution (IP CORE). Do you know any proven solution?3 Replies

Yes, I looked on OpenCores but those solutions are hard to synthesis or take a lot of FPGA resources.

There are some IP cores on CAST or Alma Technologies. Recently I also found some new JPEG-EC IP core on Prime Core Solution.
