DSP builder/Vhdl suggestion

Hi.. i have daughtercard tvp5146, its output is 8bit in YCbCr 4:2:2 formate. i want black & white image at VGA output, thats why i have to zero the Cb and Cr part in YCbCr. i want only Y compo...

will you please guide me what type of digital processing is required ?

in other words what i have to do to enhance Y, such that i have 8bit Y data?
