difference between quartus II systhesis tool and synopsis design compiler

What is the difference between synopsis design compiler and quartus II analysis and synthesis module?

If I am trying to download a synopsys design compiler software from Internet. Does anybody know if there is an evaluation version that I could use (downloading link?)?

    You will have to ask synopsys for an evaluation version. You cant just "download it" without a licence.

    But having spoken to synopsys reps, they say their results for Altera parts are no better than Quartus, so you might aswell stick with Quartus.
