Design protection with external security device

Hi all,

I wonder if any security reference design is available, which uses an external secure memory device.

i.e.: on my dev board I have an Atmel AT88SC crypto memory available.

I know I can't protect the fpga image file stored on the epcs eprom, but I'd like that the fpga, after configuration, shall check the security code stored in the external device and enable all the other functions only if this matches.

I found something similar in white paper wp-01033, using a 1-wire device.

Regards

What doesnt the white paper solution do that you need? There is a ref design for this white paper but you need to request it from Altera.

As I said, I'd like to test the solution with my dev board, so I'm looking for a reference design which exploits the AT88SC device.

It's unlikely, that you'll find multiple reference designs from Altera supporting different crypto memories. Did you ask at Atmel for HDL reference designs?

The only solutions Altera offer is the one you mention using the Dallas/Maxim DS28E01 or one using a MaxII CPLD.
