Waveshare USB blaster driver failure

Hello! For the past few months i've been using a waveshare usb blaster v2 (i believe it's usb blaster II). It's been pretty reliable, working on all FPGAs (i use altera cyclone IV, ep4ce6 board) that whole time, but recently it stopped displaying in quartus prime as a jtag device. I looked in device manager and it showed that no driver was installed, so, following the tutorials, i selected update driver from quartus/drivers and got an error.

Below i've attached the relevant photos. The blaster board looks fine, doesnt overheat.

Thank you so much in advance!

  • Hi,
Waveshare V2 USB Blaster is fully compatible to original Altera and Terasic Blaster. Your screenshots suggest that a different driver "Altera WinUSB" has been installed instead of the original driver which is most likely causing the problems. I'd try to remove all drivers associated with USB Blaster and reinstall the recent USB Blaster driver shipped with Quartus.

Hello and thank you for the recommendation! The problem was fully solved only after fully reinstalling quartus lite, along with a driver re installation. No other problems were observed after this.

Thank you so much for the help provided!

  • Hi,

Have you try FvM suggestion? You might need to contacted Waveshare support as the USB blaster is from them.

    Regards,
