The EPM5130 from the MAX 5000 family was not programmed through JTAG or ISP. The supported method used MAX+PLUS II together with an external Altera programmer-Logic Programmer Card or Master Programming Unit (MPU)-and the appropriate device- and package-specific adapter. Compatible universal programmers from vendors such as Data I/O and BP Microsystems were also available.
Available family-level information lists the standard power and package pins, but does not provide the complete programming-pin assignment or low-level programming algorithm. Normal operation requires a 5 V VCC supply (4.75–5.25 V). EPROM-based EPLDs generally used a separate high programming voltage, but the exact value, pulse timings, address sequences, and program/verify procedure for this device are not available and should not be inferred. These parameters were controlled by the supported programmer and its device-specific adapter.
We therefore do not recommend building a custom programming circuit based only on the data sheet. The practical next step is to use a legacy universal programmer that explicitly supports the EPM5130QC-1 or CY7C346, together with the correct QFP adapter and manufacturer-supplied programming algorithm.
Unfortunately, we do not have a published device-specific programming specification containing the required pin assignment and algorithm, so we cannot provide these low-level details.
