Stratix4 FPGA with DDR3 Memory

Hi,

We are Planning to Interface the DDR3 533MHZ(1066MHZ) with stratix4 GX530 FPGA. We are using the Industrial speed grade 3 FPGA and it supports only 400Mhz DDR3 Memories.

can we operate the above DDR3 Memory at Lower Frequency i.e 400Mhz?.

if yes what are the implications?.

    Yes you can. Look at the datasheet for the memory you are using. It will specify the timing parameters for running the memory at 400MHz.
