Stratix IV GX kit: BoardTestSystem.exe fails "active version is not 9.1"
I'm trying to run the BoardTestSystem.exe program
for a Stratix IV GX kit. Unfortunately, it complains that 9.1 must be the active version. I have already installed Quartus 10.0. Can I work around this? Must I install 9.1 to use the BoardTestSystem.exe? Can 9.1 even be found on the Altera.com site? Can I install 9.1 after 10.0 without messing up my 10.0 installation? Should I just give upon the board test and move on with my development? Thanks Cameron15 Replies

For all, look at these links....
http://www/products/devkits/altera/kit-cyclone-iv-gx.html http://www/products/devkits/altera/kit-cyclone-iv-starter.html You should be able to see 11.* update for both kits. - Altera_Forum

Davefrazer, could you provide the link to the update please?
(I found just that link: ftp://ftp.altera.com/outgoing/devkit/91/arriaiigx_2agx125_fpga_v9.1.2.exe) Meanwhile Quartus 10.1. is released. I can not switch back to 9.1 for using BTS. Does anybody know if its possible to change the Quartus version numer (Environment variable or registry setting)? Jens - Altera_Forum

Nevermind - I found it. I was looking at Arria II GX kit installation. That kit has the same problem and is also to be updated shortly from what I've been told.

Can you provide a link? The version on the web for the kit install still shows 9.1.2.exe version

Hi All,
There is an updated version of the kit board tools available now. That solves all the issues. - Altera_Forum

BoardTestSystem_new.exe does work in Windows 7 after installing Quartus II 10.0, however other dev kit programs and reference designs are still not functional in Windows 7.
I eventually tracked down and installed an old copy of XP. I look forward to when Altera fully supports current OSes like Windows 7 for all of its offerings. - Altera_Forum

Thanks Dave. I found that BoardTestSystem will work in Windows 7's XP Mode, but it's a bit unwieldy. The BoardTestSystem_new.exe file requires Quartus II 10.0, which I haven't installed yet.
