programming Max3000A

Hi everyone,

I have done a schematic, i compiled it and now i want to program it on MAX3000A EPM3032AT-4 CPLD. however when i try to program and detect the cpld i get the error ''unable to scan the device chain. Cant scan Jtag chain'' i think the problem is that i didnt power the device correctly. to be honest i dont know which pins to power. can anyone help me please with my problem? thanks

regards,

marios

Can I assume your device is soldered down to a PCB? Does that not supply power to the device? You are certainly not going to be able to talk to the device unless it is powered correctly.

The pinouts for that device can be found here: epm3032a dedicated pin-outs (http://www.altera.com/literature/dp/max3k/epm3032a.pdf)

Make sure all the power pins have right voltages on them, essentially all the VCCINT, VCCIO, GND & GNDINT pins. For simplicity, VCCINT & VCCIO can be powered from the same 3.3V supply. None of the others should need connecting to anything, except the JTAG pins (TDI, TDO, TCK & TMS). After doing this the device should appear when you scan the chain.

    Cheers,

    Alex
