PLL reconfiguration with NIOS

Hi

I'm working with a cyclone III FPGA with a NIOS. That NIOS is going to reconfigure a PLL via its Avalon bus.

My question is: Can the NIOS reconfigure a PLL generating the NIOS clock, and doing that without any problem during the frequency changing ?

Thank you for your answer !

Boy that sounds dangerous. Honestly I wouldn't even attempt it. Is there some reason you need to reconfigure the NIOS's clock? I would recommend running the NIOS off of a different clock that you are not going to modify.

Sounds like cutting the branch you are standing on. Another similar scenario is updating remotely your only one or two firmware images at the customer premises by a new image that didn't work, there would be no way back.

    Thank you, I'm convinced.

I am going to make the NIOS working on another fixed clock.
