Have your professor join the Altera University program and then he can request a Quartus II full-edition license.

Thanks Dave,
I've just read... 'Before you set up licensing for DSP Builder, you must already have the Quartus II software installed on your computer with licensing set up' Will i be ok with just a web edition licence type? Also, the licence request asks for a my NIC address. I am running a virtual machine on my mac so which do i give? is this just for the download or is the licence tethered to the NIC address? - Altera_Forum

you can use DSP Builder with QII Web Edition
http://www.altera.com/support/kdb/solutions/rd07262004_7122.html the NIC ID should be that of the Virtual Machine where the software will be running - Altera_Forum

You can't use any of the high-end DSP devices (Stratix series) without a full license. --- Quote Start --- Also, the licence request asks for a my NIC address. I have multiple versions of VirtualBox with older versions of Quartus installed. The only issue I have seen is that under a Windows 7 host, the USB-Blaster cannot be given to the VM. However, it works fine under a Centos 6.2 and WinXP host. Cheers, Dave - Altera_Forum

You can also request licenses for components like FIR, NCO, etc. The university program is very nice :) Cheers, Dave - Altera_Forum

scucherish, please do not request licenses on the forum. if you are a student try contacting the University Program. if you are a company, contact your distributor and purchase a license
