DDR2-SDRAM High performance controller

Hi All,

I am currently using the DDR2-SDRAM High performance controller on Quartus II 8.0. I assume that the controller had been successfully generated. but i can not effectively test the the system as the example driver always hangs.

I have noticed using signal tap that the signal mem_local_rdata_valid never got asserted by the controller.

Does anyone have experience with this?

    Hi Yems,

    I am not sure why rdata_valid signal is not being asserted. Altera has a very good simulation model that runs in ModelSim. I tested my design first with the simulation before compiling it for the hardware. I would suggest you to try the simulation and see if you get the same result. I have done most of my compilation/simulation with 9.1, so I am not sure if 8.0 has an issue with DDR2 controller.

    it seems to be a 8.0 issue. i've just successfully tried it with the 9.1.

    does anyone know if there is a patch for 8.0?

    thanks for the tip. I 've downloaded and installed the 8.0 service pack1 and that works!!.

    Hey, sorry to intrude here, but when I read 'high performance' SDRAM controller, I just wanted to know what design criteria(s) makes the performance impact?? Thank you!

    High Performance is a setting (radio button) selection on DDR2 MegaVizard environment that you set and it makes the DDR2 core a high performance core. You don't manually change the core to make the core high performance.

    There were a number of bugs with this IP in 8.0. I would recommend using the latest tools and also set the PHY to Controller interface to AFI ( not NonAFI).

    BTW, there is now a high performance controller II !!!

    What simulation tool did you use? I'm using ModelSim PE and I can't get my DDR2 HPC to simulate. What files did you use and what libraries?
