Hi,
I have been suffering through the Altera TQ documentation myself this week and it is not very clear. I have, however, found a document that was posted by Graham in the "Constraining SOPC Builder designs using TimeQuest" thread that explains using TQ for basic assignments much better than the Altera Docs. Here is a link to it: http://www.alteraforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=574&d=1219074045 I am still not 100% sure on all aspects, but it was fairly useful to me. If your company will spot for it, I would highly recommend the timequest class from altera. It helped me a lot when I was first starting out with Altera. However they happen only every couple of months. Other than that start first with constraining just clocks and using derive_pll_clocks . IO constraints still confuse me a little at times.
