Hi, I'm trying to implement the remote update in a Cyclone IV with a Parallel Flash connected to it.
For this one needs the ALTREMOTE_UPDATE megafunction but in its options, one can only choose serial configuration devices (EPCS, EPCQ) and there are no parallel configuration devices (CFI) Why? Can I choose any serial device and it doesn't matter or am I doing something wrong? Thanks2 Replies

This may be the Reason: Cyclone IV E supports active parallel. Cyclone IV GX doesn't support active parallel, only serial, JTAG and FPP. And FPP is not supported on every GX. See: http://www.altera.com/literature/hb/cyclone-iv/cyiv-51001.pdf on page 10.- Altera_Forum
Hi, I have a Cyclone IV E, but the curious thing is that even in the user guide of the ALTREMOTE_UPDATE (http://www.altera.com/literature/ug/ug_altremote.pdf page 28) says the legal values to choose are only EPCS or EPCSQ devices, but again on page 25 it says "Cyclone IV E devices support the active parallel (AP) configuration scheme" however it is not explained how to enable this for AP remote update
And it should be supported as mentioned here: http://www.altera.com/literature/hb/cyclone-iv/cyiv-51008.pdf page 2 So now I'm not even sure if I should be using the ALTREMOTE_UPDATE megafunction for this? Any Ideas Thanks Luis
